The National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) honored a total of 40 Legends this year.
The NAMAs first virtual show was held on the 27th of March at HICC in honor of 40 Legends. This special edition was held to honor great efforts and works that helped to build Zimbabwe’s Arts and Entertainment industry.
Despite honoring the legends, this edition shed an insight on the history of our industry. A lot could be learnt from their works. The history itself cn serve as a learning curve for upcoming talents.
Their achievements are a great inspiration to the new generations especially those who made it internationally using vernec. The way they embraced our culture can be very important since we are forced by our peers to think of adopting the modern culture can be our own chance to make it to international market.
The show was hosted by the beautiful armatian, Ammara Brown. Ammara Brown is one of the greatest musicians to ever emerge in Zimbabwe.

Great performances that were displayed on this night. In the opening, the national Anthem was performed by different artists in the foreign who are doing a great job uplifting the flag. These include Brian Nhira, Vimbai Zimuto, Sani Makhalima, Bekezela, Tina Manyavi, Vusa Mkhaya and to mention a few. A fuse of all the major languages showed respect and honor.
A couple spin off of the legendary songs that rocked Zimbabwe. This includes Rudo Imoto and True Love performed by Busi Ncube, Tamy Moyo and ExQ. Rudo Imoto is a classic composed by Marshall Munhumumwe and True Love was composed by Ilanga.
A special performance for the departed legends by Sylent Nqo, Tariro Negitare and Jose Sax for Kudakwashe originally composed by James Chimombe.
Then the grand best performance by DJ Tamuka, Anita Jaxson, Poptain and Nutty O for Kokai Remix brought life. This left people overwhelmed and proud to be part of the new generation.
A special mention to the White Linen who was the one responsible for dressing these lovely souls.
