Where there is smoke, there is fire. Oskid and Stunner weigh in on Poptain’s claims of exploitation by the cooperates and rich tycoons for their own benefit.
Poptain woke up one morning and decided to let the cat out of the bag. The chanter feels like it’s high time he represents the future generations and help build a decent music industry. Soon after Poptain’s UK tour, he came to the realization that he might be offering his services to people who do not appreciate his art and line of work.
Multi award winning producer and in-house producer for Passion Java Records, Oskid, stood in support of Poptain. The prodhcer appreciates how bold Poptain was to speak out. Oskid believes that even though people think it is clout, it is real and there are many people who are afraid and not ready to talk about it. The state of our industry has made some the artists exposed to exploitation as a token of appreciation.
Zim Hip Hop pioneer Stunner weighs in and blasted Jah Signal for not supporting Poptain’s claim. Stunner name dropped Jah Signal after he said that it does not matter if he performs for free. ExQ was not happy about it.
This opposes the core goal to Poptain’s claim and campaign. Poptain on one of his posts called for all artists to come and join arms to fight against exploitation, as he believes he is at the forefront and holds much influence in the Zimbabwean music industry.
The rapper recalls one of his shows where he was supposed to perform recently in Chinhoyi. Unfortunately, the arrangement did not go well after the promoter mentioned a mere short on his payment and asked Stunner to fill up his car and be compensated when he touched down.
Vusa Mkhaya weighed in. Vusa believes that most people who have made it in the industry did that, not on the basis of money but passion, which supports Jah Signal statement.
