NAMA award winning singer and songwriter, Jah Prayzah (real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe) releases a rendition called Furuwa. Furuwa samples one of Zimbabwe’s finest classic records by Tairos Tendaupenyu, Furuwa.
The video is a retro edition, projecting a couple back in the 80s. Furuwa sounds like a refix but Jah Prayzah had to add something to it.
The record was originally composed by Tairos Tendaupenyu, released back in 1984. To Tairos, Furuwa is a person but, to Jah Prayzah Furuwa is one of the favorite records he danced to with his lover. Tairos composed this record to appreciate his wife celebrating their commitment. In an interview Tairos said,
“I was in retrospect while strolling across the beach in Ayra Napa, Cyprus. Wondering about the events that led me to meet this beautiful women who has been by my side for the last 20 years…”
Tairos went on to appreciate the family he has built with his wife as he added,
“Now our five children are grown up and able to take care of themselves, giving us the freedom to be ourselves, traveling the world and rediscovering ourselves…”
Jah Prayzah has 5 children but the difference is, they are still young. The Gochi Gochi hitmaker reimagined this by posting a picture of himself and his 5 children suspended in air on his socials.
Furuwa produced by Rodney Beats, Shot and Chopped by Nic Roux was released by Military Touch Movement on the 17th of June 2022. Now streaming on all digital platforms.
