Born Charmaine Mapimbiro aka Sha Sha lands a BET Nomination at this year’s BET Awards 2020. Nominated under the Best New International Act along with Dumebi hitmaker Rema, Celeste, Doh Rush hitmakers Young T and Bugsey, Hatik and Stacy. This is really a tough line up but hope she brings it home. Dumebi by Rema has participated Great this year blowing all parts of Africa. Same with Doh Rush, a 2019 record which trended big time in 2020 and had a lot of challenge Remixes from Europe, Carribean down to Africa.
However, despite their performance, Tender Love featuring DJ Maphorisa has performed great and has became the most outstanding track off her Blossom EP.
Her career took off in 2017 with Ziwakhupi featuring Bonafide, making waves both home and regional upto date with the help of Audiua Mtawarira. Audius Mtawarira is one of the Urban Grooves legends to date with classics like: If Only You Know, Muchandiona and to mention a few. Mtawarira did play a major part in building her career. Later on, Brian Soko showed up and introduced them to some top South African Artist.
It is believed that, her cab driver, Melusi Mhlanga, was the one who introduced her to DJ Maphorisa and that’s when the magic started. Melusi fell in love with her voice and thought of introducing her to DJ Maphorisa since he had an upclose relationship as his ex cab driver.
2020 DJ Maphorisa featured on couple songs on her EP. One of them was Tender Love which has been the most outstanding track off the Blossom EP. On digital stores, Sha Sha has been playlisted along with other African giants which gave her a chance to reach a wider range of audience.
