ZIMA2021 Nominees Revealed

0

It’s that time again where the most hardworking are given their credit so as to motivate them to put more extra work. The PPC Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) is almost due and the official nominees list has been revealed.

This year the ZIMA celebrates 18 years of musical experience and creativity, providing a high profile and multi faceted and rich cultural diversity of Zimbabwean music. It stands to celebrate new partnerships, new sound, new genres, new categories, new experiences and new passions.

ZIMA 2021 has added an exclusive category called the Best Covid-19 Song which features the MVP Nutty O, Indosakhsa, The Vjne, Baba Harare, Kapfupi and Tocky Vibes. This is a special dedication to songs that were composed to deliver heartfelt messages about the pandemic Era.

This year’s ZIMA has received more than one thousand submissions from different creatives. Eligibility entry for submissions was for content that was released from the 1st of January 2020 to the 31st of December 2020. In an interview the ZIMA spokesperson Benjamin Nyandoro was excited on how engaging it was.

Our team had received more than 1 235 music submissions across 30 categories. Impressive and surely well deserving of a befitting awards ceremony,” Nyandoro said.

This years edition has been delayed due to the thirty day lockdown imposed early in January. The official show was scheduled on the 6th of February but was rescheduled to the 20th of February. The show will be showcased at the Country Club in Harare.

The spokesperson shared his sentiments towards the delay in a statement but still shows positive hope towards their next ceremony.

“We hope that by February 20th, the environment will be more conducive to hold the awards ceremony while still adhering to safe health practices…

“Resolves to contain the spread of the vicious Covid-19 global pandemic necessitated the adoption of safe practices and among others, discouraged gatherings or holding of live events. The world of music was certainly not spared.

“Nevertheless, music is still a way of life. By close of submissions as at December 31, 2020…”
